George Floyd was not a nice guy. George was a hard drug user and was high on fentanyl and meth at the time he was passing a counterfeit 20.
A worker at the market called the cops, the cops showed up, found George, cuffed him and put him face down on the street , then Derek Chauvin placed his knee on the back of George’s neck for 8 minutes.
Why wasn’t George immediately placed in the back of the cruiser with air conditioning on? Seems to me any cop has one job, protect all people. But Derek Chauvin sure didn’t protect George Floyd. He did the opposite. Guilty or innocent of passing a fake 20, George deserved the respect and common decency to treat him as innocent until proven guilty, but most and more importantly George like all people should be treated in a manner that placed him in custody without duress.
Derek Chauvin was not threatened by George Floyd once George was in custody. It can be argued he wasn’t threatened by him prior to be placing him in cuffs. Joined by 3 armed cops Derek and his fellow cops just have to shoot George if they feel threatened. We’ve seen it often enough, shit happens if you don’t do exactly as the cops want. Bad shit. Oftentimes nervous cops, unprepared and not able to handle the situation shoot and kill those around them.
And again, while George might be a hardcore drug user, a bad guy, placing your knee on his neck for 8 minutes while your fellow officers stand and watch nonchalantly chit chatting about nonsense means all of them are guilty. Assholes all.
So, if he gets off, people will rightfully be mad. Protesters and riots will erupt nationwide. Let’s be clear, Bad policing created this, systemic racism (caused by the Democratic Party and Republican Party), used as a ratings boon by the enemy of the people media and has divided the country like never before, caused this.
At the end of the day most people by nature are moral, just and good, and cops are in the same category.
But when they aren’t, they need to have the same result as someone who isn’t a cop.
In America we live by different rules, rules for people and rules for cops. Cops get to break all the rules and the rules don’t t apply to them.
Sure not every cop is like this, privileged, living above the law, they aren’t all assholes like Derek Chauvin and his fellow on scene officers. Some are good people, some aren’t.
If George Floyd has proved anything with his death he has proven this – We have too many career, useless, incompetent, racist, unprepared, unprofessional double standards cops in America.
Which brings us to this place and this question-
Should term limits for cops be considered?
